Whatnot Launches Live Analytics and New Tools for Sellers

Whatnot has rolled out a significant update to its seller toolset, introducing real-time Live Analytics, new buyer engagement features through its Points system, and improvements to pre-bid functionality that give sellers more ways to build demand before a show even starts. The updates are designed to give sellers more visibility into what is working during a live show and more tools to act on that information in the moment.

Real-Time Live Analytics

The most significant addition in the update is a new Live Seller Analytics panel available on the web version of Whatnot during live shows. The panel gives sellers access to real-time metrics including sales per hour, orders per hour, and average watch time, alongside a breakdown of how revenue is split between live and shop sales.

Audience insights show how many viewers have previously bought from the seller or followed them, how much those buyers have historically spent, and how the audience splits between new and returning viewers. Live charts track changes in orders, viewers, and followers in real time, with the option to focus on the past five minutes to identify momentum shifts as they happen rather than after the fact.

A pop-out button expands the standard widget into a full four-panel view that sits alongside the live show, giving sellers a richer picture of performance without having to navigate away from the broadcast. The panel also includes seller-only chat badges that identify first-time buyers and returning buyers in the chat, giving sellers the context to welcome a new buyer by name or acknowledge a regular without that information being visible to other viewers.

The practical value of this for sellers is straightforward. Knowing in real time that a particular product drove a spike in new followers, or that viewer numbers are dropping, gives sellers the information they need to adjust their approach while there is still time to act. Previously that kind of insight was only available after a show ended, at which point it was useful for planning the next one but not for saving the current one.

Points and Buyer Engagement

Whatnot has also expanded the visibility of its Points system, which gives buyers rewards for actions taken during live shows including watching, saving upcoming shows, following sellers, and reacting to content. The data behind the feature is compelling for sellers. Every day one in five active buyers opens the Points page, and 75 percent of those buyers complete at least one challenge. In testing, eligible buyers were three times more likely to follow a seller or save an upcoming show.

Buyers can redeem Points for special reactions including cheers, hearts, and crowns, or for Jumbotrons, which are celebratory animations that appear after a purchase and feature the buyer's name and avatar on screen. Special reactions now account for 60 percent of all reactions during live shows, and more than one in five live orders includes a Jumbotron. For sellers, these features are most useful as engagement signals and as moments to acknowledge buyers directly during a show, which reinforces the community dynamic that makes live selling perform differently from a standard marketplace listing.

Pre-Bid Outbid Notifications

Whatnot has also improved the pre-bid experience by introducing outbid notifications for buyers who are outbid on a listing before a show begins. When a buyer is outbid ahead of the live start, they now receive a notification that takes them directly back to the listing, giving them the opportunity to raise their bid before the show goes live.

Since the feature launched, daily pre-bidders are up four percent and pre-show pre-bids have increased seven percent. For sellers, the implication is that investing time in detailed listings ahead of a show, with clear photos, accurate titles, and the right category and product details, now has a more direct commercial payoff. Buyers who discover and bid on inventory before a show starts are more engaged when the show goes live, and the outbid notification mechanism gives the auction more time to build genuine competitive bidding before the seller even appears on screen.

Seller Provided Support Rolling Out in the US

Whatnot also confirmed that Seller Provided Support began rolling out to all US sellers on 1 September 2026, giving sellers direct ownership of buyer support requests and the tools to resolve issues with buyers themselves. Sellers using the feature should respond to each buyer request individually, monitor their SPS Response Rate, and be aware that once the initial 30-day period ends the response rate will count toward Premier Shop eligibility and Account Health.

Whatnot is hosting a product live on 30 September at 7pm BST on the Whatnot Sellers account for sellers who want to learn more about navigating the SPS feature.

What This Means for Live Sellers

Taken together, the analytics update, the Points engagement data, and the pre-bid improvements represent a meaningful step forward in the information and tools available to sellers building a live selling business on Whatnot. The Live Analytics panel in particular addresses one of the practical limitations of running a live show, which is that it is difficult to know what is working while you are in the middle of it. Having that information in real time, alongside audience context from chat badges, gives sellers a more professional operating environment during a show rather than relying purely on instinct and experience to read the room.

For sellers evaluating Whatnot as a live selling channel, these additions strengthen the case that the platform is investing seriously in the seller experience rather than simply growing its buyer base and leaving sellers to figure out the rest.
