eBay Fitment Plus Auto: What Parts Sellers Need to Know
eBay is rolling out Fitment Plus Auto to UK sellers in Parts and Accessories categories from 15 September 2026, automatically adding and updating compatible vehicle information to eligible listings using brand and Manufacturer Part Number data. The feature is designed to improve listing visibility, build buyer confidence, and reduce the time sellers spend managing fitment data manually.
What Fitment Plus Auto Actually Does
Fitment Plus Auto is an eBay feature that automatically adds compatible vehicle information to eligible Parts and Accessories listings by using the brand and Manufacturer Part Number already present in a listing to match the part with compatible vehicles. Where fitment data is missing entirely, Fitment Plus Auto fills the gap. Where fitment data already exists, it may add missing or updated compatibility information to improve coverage without replacing the data the seller has already provided.
The feature is designed to make listings more discoverable in search, since complete fitment data helps listings appear in vehicle-specific searches that buyers use when looking for a part that fits their specific make, model, and year. It also builds buyer confidence by showing clear compatibility information before a buyer commits to a purchase, reducing the uncertainty that causes buyers to hesitate or look elsewhere.
Automatic Enrollment From 15 September 2026
From 15 September 2026, sellers with eligible listings in fitment-enabled Parts and Accessories categories in the UK marketplace will be automatically enrolled in Fitment Plus Auto. No action is required to receive fitment enhancements, and eligible listings will be automatically included as the feature rolls out.
The only categories excluded from automatic enrollment are Tyres and Wheels, which are not eligible for Fitment Plus Auto. All other fitment-enabled Parts and Accessories categories in the UK marketplace are included.
Seller Protection Through eBay Assured Fit
Any listing enhanced through Fitment Plus Auto qualifies for the eBay Assured Fit programme, which provides an important layer of protection for sellers whose listings now carry compatibility data added automatically by eBay. When a buyer purchases an eligible part or accessory displaying the eBay Assured Fit checkmark, the item is covered by eBay's Money Back Guarantee with free returns if the item does not fit the buyer's vehicle.
If a buyer opens a return using the "Doesn't fit my vehicle" reason and the seller chooses to accept the return, eBay provides the return label at no charge to the seller, with some exceptions applying. This protection means sellers benefit from the improved visibility and discoverability that fitment data provides without bearing the full cost of a return if eBay's automatically added compatibility data turns out to be incorrect for a specific buyer's vehicle.
How to Manage Your Settings
Sellers can manage their Fitment Plus Auto settings through Motors Selling Preferences. Opting out is available at any time, and any fitment data added to listings through Fitment Plus Auto will be removed if a seller opts out. Sellers can also opt back in at any time to resume receiving fitment enhancements. Enrollment and opt-out is managed at the account level only, meaning it is not currently possible to opt individual listings in or out of Fitment Plus Auto.
Sellers using third-party listing tools can continue using their existing workflow, as eligible listings will be automatically enriched with fitment information without requiring changes to the listing process. For sellers using the GetItem API, it is worth noting that from 12 August 2026, access to fitment data through the API is limited to a seller's own listings, and the API will only return seller-provided fitment information rather than fitment data added by eBay through Fitment Plus Auto.
What Sellers Should Do Now
For most Parts and Accessories sellers, no action is required ahead of the 15 September enrollment date. The most useful preparation is to ensure that brand and Manufacturer Part Number information is accurate and complete across eligible listings, since these are the two data points Fitment Plus Auto uses to match parts to compatible vehicles. Listings with incomplete or missing brand and MPN data will receive fewer or less accurate fitment enhancements than listings where that information is correct.
